Server Migration complete for berry411.com and thebogles.com

I am up and running on my new dual core server for thebogles.com and berry411.com.

It was a longer and bumpier transition than I had hoped for, with a fair amount of downtime, but I believe the outcome will be a faster and more stable server.

Please let me know if you encounter any issues.

Update: Several readers pointed out that Berry Bloglines was returning 503 errors, this is now fixed. I also improved performance usingdnsmasq, a local DNS cache, since I discovered that ServerPronto’s servers periodically become very slow.)

I’m getting 503 errors accessing Berry Bloglines.

The bloglines issues is fixed, thanks for the heads up.

I have an app loaded on my Motorola Q that gets 411 info from theboggles.com it seems. It is called smart411. This no longer works. Any ideas why? It appears to go to http://thebogles.com/cgi-bin/yp.py?v=2.5&q=whatyouare lookingfor&near=whereitisnear.

I’d love to put something like this up on my servers. It is great 411 when on the road. I run all FREEBSD servers here with Apache and perl/python/ruby. I do not have SQL PHP or PGRS on them though. Too many hacks on those type systems lately.

Thanks, Al

I cannot get the application to save my home/work information on my Blackberry Storm. The save button is not reactive when trying to edit settings. Instead I tried the GPS feature and a “this feature is currently unavailable” box popped up.

I love the app., but since I upgraded to 4.2 when I try to get a map only a small box shows up with the word map inside. The written instructions are fine, but no map. Any Ideas on how to fix this.

Thanks,
Dave

The maps issue should now be fixed.

I like the app. One plugin discovered that is bad link - reference: bible. It now points to a site that apparently expired and was taken over by ads.

I didn’t find any other way to submit this discovery.
