Here is a round up of news on the Iraq explosives issue. Good to see journalist digging for the facts here.

Flash book recommendations

I’ve been learning about a bit about Flash and looking for book recommendations. Ken Fine recommends the following books:

1) Flash MX 2004 for Server Geeks
2) Colin Mook’s Actionscript for flash MX, the definitive guide (Orielly). This is the single best flash book out there.
3) Essential Actionscript, Colin Mook (OOP Flash concepts)
4) ActionScript Cookbook, also Oreilly. Lots of practical examples.

Excel to Confluence Conversion Tool

I’ve added a new tool to my home page, a Microsoft Excel macro that converts Excel content to the format used by the Confluence knowledge management and Wiki system.

Mobile Bloglines: Blog Reading tool for Mobile Devices

I’ve put together a set of web pages for reading your Bloglines subscriptions on the Blackberry, Pocket PC, and other mobile devices with an HTML web browser. Though other RSS readers exist for these devices, the approach taken here has the advantage of letting you do all of your subscription management on the PC. Also, if you use Bloglines on the PC, the read/unread state of blog posting is shared across all of the devices that you use.

You’ll want to visit Bloglines.com on your PC and create account there if you haven’t done so already.

Then, email a link to http://www.thebogles.com/showfeeds.py to your mobile device, or type it into your mobile browser. (Of course, these pages also work on a PC, but what’s the point?)

I must thank the following individuals and companies for doing the heavy lifting that made this an easy project:the Bloglines Web Services, Michael Josephson’s PyBlogLines, and Mark Pilgrim’s Universal Feed Parser.

I will be posting my source online.

Blackberry 7100t thread

Blackberry Forums has a a good thread discussing the new Blackberry 7100t.

Simplied over the air installation for Berry 411

I created a mailto: link on the Berry411 web page that prepopulates an email message with everything need to install the app over the air.

I discovered a “http://developer.netscape.com/viewsource/husted_mailto/mailtoApp.html”>web tool that makes it easy to create very fancy mailto links with prepopulated subjects, CC fields, and message bodies.
